ERDI-CMU joins in driving CMU’s action plan towards a Carbon Neutral University.

At the 2025 Chiang Mai University Executive Seminar
On May 24, 2025, the Energy Research and Development Institute (ERDI-CMU) participated in the 2025 Chiang Mai University Executive Seminar. This event aimed to enhance understanding and unite efforts at all levels of the organization to drive the Action Plan (AP) in line with the university’s development goals across five key dimensions.
Under the theme “Carbon Neutrality: The Power to Change the Future of Universities,” ERDI-CMU organized a knowledge exchange event to showcase the role of energy and environmental agencies in supporting the university’s path to carbon neutrality. The event was divided into three main parts:

Special Talk
Assoc. Prof. Prasert Rerkriangkrai, Vice President of Chiang Mai University, shared the vision and approach to CMU Carbon Neutrality within the context of the five AP areas and invited all levels of agencies to participate in the transition to a sustainable green university.

Showcase & Idea Connection

Presentation of the implementation of four prototype projects:

Solar Rooftop and Waste Management

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ittichai Preechawuttipong
Carbon Event and Landscape 2 by Asst. Prof. Dr. Natthani Worayot
reflected on the design, actual operations, and outcomes that can be extended to the university level.
Discussion & Roadmap Design
A workshop led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sirichai Khamdee-lert, Director of the Institute, and his team, along with university administrators and personnel, brainstormed and designed approaches to drive carbon emission reduction through key issues:
Using the ECI for assessment,
Promoting clean energy within the organization,
Student and community participation,
and systematic roadmap development.
The entire event was moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Saohrit Nitiyawattana, Deputy Director of ERDI, in an open and friendly atmosphere.
This ERDI-CMU participation not only supported Chiang Mai University’s policies but also demonstrated the power of collaboration to create real change towards the goal of a sustainable Carbon Neutral University in the near future.
