CMU Green Transit is another important step for Chiang Mai University towards becoming a “Smart City, Clean Energy Model”.
One of the key infrastructures for achieving a “Smart City and Green University” is a convenient, safe, and environmentally friendly public transportation system. Chiang Mai University has therefore developed the CMU Green Transit (CMU Green Transit) electric bus system under the operation of the Smart City Management Center (SCMC).
The familiar Purple Line within CMU not only reduces pollution but also features a modern digital system.
Users can check the bus location and seat capacity in real time via the CMU Mobile Application, making travel within the university more convenient and easier.
Results (Accumulated data from 2019 to April 2025):
Over 5,018,272 passenger trips have been served.
Over 7,327,672 kilometers have been traveled.
In addition to reducing the use of private vehicles within the university, the CMU electric train also reduces carbon emissions and promotes sustainable travel behavior over the long term.
This is another commitment of Chiang Mai University. A true step towards becoming a “Smart & Sustainable Campus”
With a 100% electric bus system that can track bus locations and available seats in real time via the CMU Mobile Application,
it provides convenience for students, staff, and tourists visiting the university.
From 2019 to April 2025:
• Over 5 million passenger trips
• Traveled over 7.3 million kilometers
This transportation system not only reduces the use of personal vehicles on campus but also contributes to long-term greenhouse gas emissions.
