1. Principles and reasons (in summary):

In order to reduce the impact on the global warming problem caused by organizing various activities of Chiang Mai University. To be in line with the strategic goals of Chiang Mai University in aiming for 22 carbon neutrality. It will assess the amount of greenhouse gas emissions from operations and activities to find ways to improve organizing activities to be low-carbon. and used to develop the platform Assessment for organizing low carbon events. We propose that this project will also help raise awareness of Students and staff of Chiang Mai University respond to the problem of global warming through our various activities, stimulating the creation of a low-carbon social atmosphere within the university. and demonstrating responsibility, care, and alertness to the problems of global warming and climate change at Chiang Mai University to the public.

2. Objective :

  1. To assess the carbon footprint of Chiang Mai University activities.
  2. To develop a platform for organizing low-carbon events.
  3. To raise awareness of the effects of global warming from organizing events for event organizing agencies. and those who attended the event.

5. Operation steps:

Activity 1 : Selection of activities Select pilot activities to assess carbon footprint. Student activity category, secondary activities include mountain acceptance activities and meeting activity categories.

Activity 2: Organizing assessment training Carbon Footprint Events Organize event carbon footprint assessment training for relevant organizing agencies.

Activity 3: Calculating the carbon footprint of activities

3.1 Calculate the greenhouse gas emissions of the event. Basic activities According to the guidelines of the management organization greenhouse gases (Public Organization) or TGO and analyze Guidelines for reducing greenhouse gas emissions of various events in collaboration with the organizers and develop assessment platforms

3.2 Consider selecting 1 activity to purchase carbon credits for Compensate for greenhouse gases released To publicize it as a Carbon Neutral Event

3.3 For activities that are publicized as “Carbon Neutral Events” after the actual event has ended. Will proceed to request Verifying the carbon footprint from the verifier and requesting certification for organizing carbon-free activities from the TAO.
