Solar energy is one of the factors that will help Chiang Mai University become a carbon neutral university by 2032.

Did you know that installing solar rooftops throughout Chiang Mai University, including the solar collector system in the student dormitories, can help reduce electricity costs and carbon emissions by a combined total of 8,000 tCO2e/year?

CMU has already installed solar panels on 240 eligible buildings and will continue to install them until the total reaches 280 buildings, reaching the 15 megawatt capacity planned for the future (installation data as of 2023).
